Exciting Things Happen at Richmond County Middle School!

The Richmond County Middle School Library

is pleased to announce the creation of a


A  MAKERSPACE is a space for students to invent, create, build, imagine, learn, and dream!

    In order for our MAKERSPACE to get off the ground, be maintained, and be successful, we need some help from parent/relatives/community members so we are asking for donations of all kinds. These could be items that you no longer use or items you purchase (new or used).

    The list below contains merely suggestions. They are definitely things that we would like but please do not limit yourself to only items on this list.

(All items need to be safe, clean, and appropriate for middle school-aged students.)

Bottle tops and lids of all sizes and shapes.  (Water bottles, medicine bottles, storage container lids, mayonnaise jar lids, ANY KIND)

Craft supplies (Cotton balls, popsicle sticks, paint, tape, low temp hot glue gun, glue gun sticks, toothpicks, etc.)

Art supplies

Sewing supplies (Needles, thread, fabric) 


Plastic cups or paper cups

Rubber bands

Plastic spoons

Pipe cleaners

Ribbon, string and yarn

Craft glue and regular school glue

Masking tape

Duct tape (all colors and all sizes)

Marbles and dominoes

Playing cards (for building things)

Paper plates


Cardboard tubes (wrapping paper, toilet paper, paper towel, etc.)  

All types of paper (Wrapping paper, card stock, scrapbook, origami)

THINGS WE CAN TAKE APART (Old or broken electronics, broken clocks or watches, small devices)

Storage Containers  (Plastic shoe boxes with lids, Tupperware style containers of all sizes with lids)

LEGOS, K’nex, and Blocks

 What else can you think of that we might use? Be creative so we can invent!

 Collection locations:  A tub in the RCE/M Gym or send it to the RCM Library

Tips for Parents and Students to Ensure a Successful Year!

1. Please ensure your child completes their homework nightly.
2. Take time to help your child become organized. A few minutes each night organizing binders and book bags can have a huge impact on your child being prepared for learning.
3. Ensure your child gets a good night sleep and attends school regularly.
